anyone know notepad?

I was going through my trumpet solos that I have played in the past, and discovered that one of my favs. is missing the trumpet part. So anyway, I downloaded finale notepad, planning to copy the trumpet part off the piano part, it is actually pretty easy. The problem is, I can't seem change the time signature in the middle of the piece. The signature changes from 4/4 to 2/4 several times throughout the solo. Is it even possible to do this in Notepad, if so how?
